Information on 'Silent
Assault' - from Kuki
"I'm going to make
an addon called Silent Assault. It won't be a
go-ahead-and-kill-everybody game, just like most of the addons are. I
want it to make the player think. You'll have to sneak between enemy
patrols, kill quietly single enemies and hide their bodies to avoid
alarm and so on (like in Commandos:BEL - BTW, a great game). I won't
probably begin it before June, but I'm already collecting good ideas.
Here's some of them:
- new maps,
graphics & sounds, of course
- light shading
(for walls & objects)
- guards don't see
at long ranges, and if it's dark or foggy their seeing range is
reduced
- weapons: knife,
pistol, pistol with silencer, machine gun, grenades, flamethrower,
sniper rifle
- silent
knife
- the knife kills
with one attack if the guard doesn't know about you
- silenced
machinegun (it's heard from some range, but not on the whole
floor)
- crawling, so the
guards can see you only from a short range
- hiding behind
objects (they block some of the bullets and the guards' seeing
range is reduced by objects)
- alarm boxes - if
a guard is alarmed and gets to an alarm box he starts an alarm on
the whole level (or only on certain floors - "alarm floors" full
of nazi soldiers ) [like in RTCW]
- if you start an
alarm on one level, there're more guards on the next
ones
- a torch - you
see better in darkness, but the guards also see you
better
- no
super-hard-to-kill bosses
- new music (new
songs, not only new songs order)
- guards get
alarmed if they see a dead guard, so you have to take dead guards
with you and hide them in safe places
- no treasures
[yeah, they're stupid, who will go around bunkers and seek for
heavy, shiny things]
- holes and
ladders
- many outside
levels
- some of the
doors don't close automatically
- some of the
doors opening like in Ken's Labirynth
- speed reduced if
you're carrying heavy weapons or too much ammo
- you can throw
away a weapon or ammo to move faster
- running allowed
only for short distances
- Panzerfaust
soldiers
- nazi
snipers
- dogs are more
dangerous
- kicking
- exploding
barrels
- light switching
on and off (when the lamps are on there's really more light in the
bunker, so the guards can see better and so does the
player)
- pointer appears
after you press some key (or you can have it all the
time)
- some short
movies (???)
- medals for
completing mission with good stats
- some useful
items can be found in parachute drops
- you can carry
exploding barrels (used as bombs)
- you have to
reload weapons
- you can find
some nazi clothes and dress into them - enemy won't attack
you
- rats
- you can get to a
stationary Heavy Machine Gun and kill enemies having a lot of ammo
(like in RTCW)
- snow, desert and
forest environment
- improved aiming
system (you won't shoot at the guy who is nearest but at the one
you're really aiming at)
- a little
improved AI (yeah, there's no AI in Wolf, so it won't be hard to
improve it :-))
- guards won't
come close to you when you're using a flamethrower (it has limited
range of course)
- landmines
- maybe trucks if
that guy who made them allows me to use them
- enemies killed
with a flamethrower don't die in the standard way, but they
burn
- gas
mask
- civilians
- you can throw
the knife (?)
- friendly guys
(???)
If you have some
other ideas, please mail me, but I want SA to be rather realistic, so
no force-fields, holowalls, teleports, etc. are allowed.
