SEPT/DEC 2012 Latest News News Archive

30th December 2012: Holiday Sales At 2 Games Web Sites

GOG is still having their holiday sale with 452 games on sale until January 3rd. Steampowered.com is having a sale until January 5th of several games and packages including Wolf Pack (Wolf 3D, Spear, & RTCW) for a savings of $2.98.

28th December 2012: Saved games released for "Operation: Kill BJ - The SDL Edition"

Tricob has included a number of saved games for his "Operation: Kill BJ - The SDL Edition" release. This will fast-forward the player to some of his favorite levels of the game. Just copy these files into the same folder as the game. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

25th December 2012: Operation Eisenfaust : Origins - Christmas pack

Team Raycast has released a special Eisenfaust Christmas edition - with a set of exciting new bonus maps, including one (revisited) scrapped bonus map from original "Eisenfaust".

Maps make good use of "Eisenfaust" features and ideas sometimes underused in the original game.

Mappers: RonWolf, DoomJedi (detailed credits in "Xmas pack ReadMe.txt") Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

25th December 2012: Beyond Mutantstein SE Anniversary Edition Released

'Beyond Mutantstein SE Anniversary Edition 2002-2012' released!

This is the (tenth) anniversary edition of Beyond Mutantstein Special Edition, the tribute game to John Bucksnort released on 25 December 2002.

A decade has now passed and with SoD/Wolf3D being 20 years old, John's mods still remain usual favourites or -in the worst case- true referents of a very distinctive style of modding.

In spite of the various modifications that were made upon the original tribute set (primarily involving some minor code and graphic tweaks), this product should be seen, mainly, as a new set of maps to our decade-old mod.

This 10-year anniversary consists of 19 levels involving 18 different mappers (quite possibly and unprecedentedly large number of different architects in a single mod?). It was basically decided that priority should be given to those who worked on the first Beyond Mutantstein Special Edition back in 2002 (and who were still present in the scene or otherwise reachable), to the remaining Bucksnorts, and then to the more experienced/advanced mappers in the community. Hopefully the end result will have been to your satisfaction and, as said by someone involved in the original mod released back in 2002, something that John would have been proud of.

Hopefully you will enjoy this tribute game to John Bucksnort!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you and your beloved ones.

Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

21st December 2012: Wolfenstein 3-D Remakes

Luke has sent in some links to the following Wolfenstein 3-D remakes...

Lego Wolf3D (C4 engine) Available here.

Wolfram (Volatile3D engine) Available here.

Wolfenstein 3D (uses Half-Life 2) Available here.

20th December 2012: Operation: Kill BJ SDL Released

Operation: Kill BJ SDL Tricob has released the "SDL Edition" of one of his older mods, "Operation: Kill BJ!". This release fixes numerous problems with the older mod, and it now showcases some of the new Static Objects demonstrated in the MyMod4SDL demo. There are 60 levels of various sizes, but while most are from the "Kill BJ" mod or "The Wolf3D Community Map Pack", E1L1, E6L7, and E6L8 are completely new. The EXE was made from the "Base Of Operations" source code, and features bleeding enemies, "empty" medical kits and food, and animated Static Objects. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

15th December 2012: MyMod4SDL - Construction Kit v1.3 Patch Released

Tricob tells me that the following is a source code patch for the Construction Kit of MyMod4SDL. The code update fixes a long-existing bug in the "Spawn Empty Health" routine when the player "eats" food or uses a medical kit. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

15th December 2012: MyMod4SDL v1.3 Patch Released

Tricob has released a Version 1.3 patch for the MyMod4SDL 1-level Demo. The patch fixes two problems - One, where a vine was spawned in the middle of a wall, and Two, where the Static Objects list would be "littered" with a blank object when food was "eaten" or a medical kit was used. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

9th December 2012: More Paal Olstad SDL Releases

Today Paal released The Tower 4SDL. Enemy Around the Corner 4SDL was released Nov 25. These sets replace the DOS versions,

Links to the game pages are found here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

7th December 2012: ECWolf

ECWolf is an advanced source port for Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny based off of the Wolf4SDL code base. ECWolf pulls a substantial amount of code from ZDoom and aims to provide a wide array of mod editing capabilities without the need to modify the source code. Most importantly you will no longer need to replace entire data sets. With ECWolf you could for example add a weapon without needing to distribute every sprite in the game along with it. Mods will be neatly packaged into a single file just like they are for Doom. It is being developed by Bizut3. There is a Tech Demo created by Executor to download too. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

2nd December 2012: Andrew's Mapset Released

Here's a mapset sent in by Andrew Marn. It has 12 levels and although it's Spear based, it has a Wolf3d feel. Available here. Needs the full version of Spear of Destiny to play.

22nd November 2012: MyMod4SDL - Construction Kit updated to v1.2

Tricob tells me that the Construction Kit for MyMod4SDL has been updated. The ChaosEdit files all remain the same, but the source code included has numerous changes. The code includes numerous bugfixes. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

21st November 2012: MyMod4SDL - Newest Version

The newest version of the MyMod4SDL demo - a.k.a. "Tricob's Base Of Operations" - is now released. A number of bugfixes are implemented (Dogs no longer bleed, and the raycaster now refreshes the walls like it should). The level has the secrets expanded somewhat, and the graphics of the Credits screen, statusbar, and sign-on screen are updated to make the demo feel more complete. Due to increasing the Static Objects limit, saved games from older versions of the demo won't work. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

20th November 2012: Paal Olstad SDL Releases

Today Paal released Wolf Hour + Epilogue 4SDL. Earlier this month he released Wolf-Extra III, 1-6 4SDL. Wolf-Extra SV 4SDL and Wolf-Extra II 4SDL were released in late October. These sets replace the DOS versions.

The Tower 4SDL and Enemy Around the Corner 4SDL will be released later this year as well as an ADH4SDL update which will include one new episode, When We Dead Awaken II.

Links to all the game pages are found here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

19th November 2012: MyMod4SDL - New Screenshots

Numerous graphics for Tricob's "MyMod4SDL" release have been updated, including the statusbar and the Credits screen. Here's a few screenshots of how it looks now.

19th November 2012: Operation Eisenfaust: Origins Released

Here's a new mod from Team RayCast:

Operation Eisenfaust: Origins Spear based, there are 29 main levels (plus some secrets etc). They are extensive and well detailed. Virtually everything has been changed. Lots of code changes. Very well put together. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

18th November 2012: House of Wolf Video

House of Wolf Video Wolf-Einstein has made a video from the upcoming mod House of Wolf. The mod is still under testing but should be released soon.

18th November 2012: World War II 3D SDL Released

World War II 3D SDL Joshua has released a mod called World War II 3D. It features 6 episodes (Wolfbel2 levels, some modified) and has some changed graphics, sounds and music. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

12th November 2012: The Lost Relic Updated

The Lost Relic Mega Luigi and Mario Maniac have updated "The Lost Relic". Most bugs have been removed and the mod is now a lot more stable, but one minor bug remains. When you die, the fading effect is "compressed" to the left of the screen. The 30 normal levels and 4 secret levels are extensive and well designed and decorated. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed, but the game keeps the Wolf3D feel very well. Code changes include many extra types of guards and bosses, artifacts, transporters and textured floors/ceilings. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

8th November 2012: Hundenberg SDL

I will not be updating the Dome for now as I have a very nasty bout of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Meanwhile, we still have the 2 Wolf3D forums and Matt Stath will be listing any new addons and have other updates at Wolfenstein goodies.com. I should still be able to forward any Wolf3D related emails on to Matt.
